Caleb Wenthe did a nice job of delivering strong K`s from the mound while being backed up by a focused and energetic defense and a strong showing at short stop by Case Bowlin. Scholl held the normally powerful Cubs scoreless in the bottom of the 7th to cement the tie game. Congratulations also to Adam VanGorp who struck out 4 of 7 Cub batters. Brenden Smith and Parker Pote pitched well for the Cubs and neither allowed a run. But on a hot day, the Cubs used other pitchers and a combination of 4 errors, 3 passed balls and 3 hit batsmen kept the win out of reach. It was a well fought game and the rematch is set for June 3rd.
